The
Senate Armed Services Committee told me today that the national
defense authorization bill, with hate bill attached, will definitely
not be considered for final approval until Monday. If approved,
it could be sent to the President for immediate signing. Next
week Republican Senators will probably attempt to strip the hate
bill off the defense bill. But their efforts are likely as doomed
as the valiant maneuvers by Republicans, such as Louie Gohmert
and Randy Forbes, to strip it off in the House. The numerical
power of the Democrat majority is too powerful.
Could Republicans persuade Pres. Obama to veto the defense/hate bill—thus
honoring his promise to veto $100 billion for extra F-35 engines? Unfortunately,
virtually all House Republicans who oppose the hate bill also support F-35 production. As soon as the Senate passes the defense bill, effective
Republican efforts will end. Who’s left?
God and the American people!
It is not too late to email the President and hold him to his promise
to veto any defense bill he and the Pentagon say contains unnecessary
military “pork.” It is still possible to flood the White
House with these messages:
• Mr. President, I will vote out Democrats at midterms
if you sign the freedom-destroying federal hate crimes bill.
• Mr. President, I expect you to keep your promise to veto any
military authorization bill that wastes $100 billion of taxpayers'
money on unnecessary F-35 jet engines.
Send these two messages in separate emails. You may cut and paste
them at www.whitehouse.gov/contact.
It is time to call to Almighty God for deliverance. The Bible is charged
with stories of how God’s people and their godly leaders repeatedly
faced overwhelming, impossible obstacles. Yet when the Hebrews cried
to Him and stopped sinning, God always sent a way of deliverance.
It is no different today. If we turn to God in faith and repentance,
He can make "a way where there is no way.”
This summer, after leading the hate bill fight since January, I was
stunned by hate bill passage in the House and Senate. I was afraid
I would have to accept defeat at last. Yet in early August I was encouraged
by town hall protest and especially Obama's warnings that he would
veto a defense/hate bill package requiring $100 billion for F-35 engines.
I encouraged listeners to influence the upcoming conference between
House and Senate to do exactly what Obama forbade: demand $100 billion
for extra engines. For most, such congressional rebellion was a long
stretch. Yet it happened! Now all that may be lacking to empower Obama
to actually keep his word is overwhelming support from the American
people. Thousands have emailed their support for Obama and his veto
promise. Thousands more must email before Monday.
God is still a God of miracles—last minute, astonishing deliverances.
That's because He's a God of love and faithfulness, the same yesterday,
today, and forever.
Do your part through faith (repentance and prayer) and works (emailing)
to make such deliverance as easy as possible for God and Obama.
