ADL’s charge comes in response to bland, but very Christian remarks by conservative pundit Ann Coulter, interviewed by Donny Deutsch on CNBC, October 8. She said that Jews, without faith in Christ, were not “complete.”

Sound like Hitler? Hardly. Coulter was saying what the New Testament and authentic Christianity has taught for millennia: Jesus is God, the second member of the Trinity, Creator of the universe and each one of us. We are debtors to Him at birth. Our whole purpose is to know and trust the One who created us and to lead as many others as possible to such fulfillment, joy, and rest of soul in Him.

Of course, Christianity also teaches that we are judged by a reasonable God, according to the light we have. St. Paul makes it clear that, when people “who do not have the law do instinctively the things of the law, these, not having the law, are a law unto themselves, in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts…" (Romans 2:14-15) He is saying that, if geographical, cultural, religious, or communication barriers insulate anyone from a knowledge of who Jesus is and this person does his best to love God and his fellow men, God receives him.

Coulter’s remarks seem pretty tame. But for ADL director, Abe Foxman, anti-Semites are now lurking behind every bush; Christians like Coulter confirm that Christianity pulsates with anti-Semitism - a desire, not to incinerate Jews in ovens, but to kill their precious Jewish souls through conversion. Many orthodox Jews, such as Foxman, consider such proselytizing “genocide” of the Jewish people through assimilation- a virtual “hate crime.”

For generations, evangelical Christians have coddled the Zionists, confident that an effusion of love and support of Israel would overwhelm all resentment or suspicion from Jews. Now, in many public statements, the most belligerent pit bull of Judaism, Abe Foxman, is lashing out, biting the hands of the evangelicals who have fed him.

It is vital that Christians not be intimidated by ADL rhetoric. Our eternal souls are on the line if, to please Jewish activists, we stop teaching what Foxman describes as “anti-semitic” passages from Scripture - or using Christ’s name in public prayer. Instead, Christian defenders should arise, as they did in the early church and Reformation, backing ADL and Foxman down through Biblical good sense. Foxman should be chased back into his hate crimes kennel!
